ANONYMOUS COMPLAINT ON THE ILL-GOTTEN WEALTH OF 2 BJMP OFFICIALS, UNFOUNDED AND UNCALLED FOR

The news article that came out as a result of an anonymous complaint of a taxpayer on the alleged ill-gotten wealth accumulated by husband and wife CSUPT BENITO A DORIGO and SR SUPT DORIS REMEDIOS-DORIGO were unfounded and uncalled for and whose aim is to malign not only the couples’ reputations but the Jail Bureau, as well.

Chief BJMP JAIL DIRECTOR ARMANDO M LLAMASARES made the statement, as he also added that “Unfounded allegations which tend to discredit the good name of Officials serving the government to the best of their ability, in effect, send a strong message to the public, as to how discouraging and disgusting public service can be when truth and fiction are mixed up and left to the manipulation of the people who will do anything to pursue their self-interest and personal gains at the expense of others and of the institution.”

Upon verification, it was found that both spouses were cleared by PAGC of any–ill gotten wealth as evidenced by the certification duly issued to both of them. CSUPT BENITO A DORIGO and SR SUPT DORIS REMEDIOS DORIGO secured a PAGC Clearance as a mandatory requirement for their promotion to the next higher rank.

Further, the house situated in Calamba, Laguna, claimed to be among the ill-gotten wealth by the anonymous taxpayer was acquired by CSUPT BENITO A DORIGO  long before their marriage, while the house  in Teachers Village, Quezon City, was acquired during the union of their marriage. Both properties are all stated and duly declared in their Statements of Assets and Liabilities (SAL) in faithful compliance with RA 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards). Also, the car being mentioned as part of the ill-gotten wealth is actually being offered for sale by the seller/owner on installment basis. The car was lent to the Dorigo spouses by the car owner for temporary use while the final option to purchase is being negotiated by both parties.

Llamasares further added that both officers, as a matter of fact, are among the pool of officers considered to be assets of the BJMP because of their notable accomplishments.

SR SUPT DORIS REMEDIOS-DORIGO recently made history for the Philippines and for the BJMP for being the second person and the first ever woman living outside United States of America to earn the prestigious award as Certified Correction Executive (CCE) from the American Correctional Association (ACA). Further, SR SUPT DORIS REMEDIOS DORIGO is slated for promotion this September to Chief Superintendent. Once given the 1 star rank, she will again make history as the first woman general of the BJMP and also a fitting candidate for the Chief, BJMP, post in the near future.

CSUPT BENITO A DORIGO, being a recipient of various awards such as Senior Officer of the Year, Best Regional Director of Region 1, 2 and 7, is one of the strong candidates for the Chief, BJMP post come March 2008 upon the retirement of incumbent Chief of BJMP ARMANDO M. LLAMASARES.

The couple does not discount the possibility that this black propaganda could be a part of a demolition job to discredit their persons in order to prejudice their upcoming promotions, as well as to narrow down the competition for the Chief, BJMP Post.
