Jail officers complete specialized rescue training

Members of the BJMP STAR Team during their Basic Rescue Technique Training at PNPA

Thirty two jail officers finally completed one of the specialized trainings uniformed men undergo.

The jail officers from the different regions of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) graduated from the 14-day Basic Rescue Techniques (BRT) course on September 15 at the Philippine National Police Academy in Silang, Cavite.

Participants came from the national headquarters and BJMP regional offices I, XI, and XII. BRT is a specialized training for high risk operations.

The training includes emergency rescue and transfer, ropemanship, high angle rescue, incident command system organization, utilization of breathing apparatus, and the different techniques of rappelling.

Jail Senior Superintendent Linda F. Mingoa, Director for the Human Resource Development of BJMP said that this is the third batch of BRT graduates from BJMP since 2010.

According to BJMP Chief, Jail Director Rosendo M. Dial, BRT is a priority project for its personnel to continuously prepare them for emergency or crisis situations that may arise in jails and enhance their skills in rescue operations.”

He said that the training is anchored on the Bureau’s JAILS First program under the acquisition, training and maintenance of human resources, and consistent with Interior and Local Government Sec. Jesse Robredo’s call of crisis preparedness and efficiency in rescue operations by units under the DILG.
